On Friday, Feb. 24 the Libraries hosted the second in a series of six workshops as part of the 2017 Alt-Textbook II initiative titled, “Copyright,” which focused on issues surrounding the Libraries’ digital resources, copyright and fair use in classrooms. The workshop was offered to instructors to prompt usage of alternative resources to move away from costly textbooks—and help students save money.
The one-hour hands-on workshop, taught by Janet Hulm, assistant dean for collections and digital initiatives, was held in Alden Library room 251. Dozens of OHIO faculty, and instructors from nearby Hocking College, collaboratively worked with librarians in their subject specific areas of expertise to develop alternatives that work for them.
The 2017 Alt-Textbook series is free and open to everyone—attend all four remaining workshops or just pick and choose—an RSVP is encouraged.
