OHIO Libraries welcomed students, faculty, staff and alumni to Alden Library on Oct. 8 to learn more about the history of the University and see artifacts from their own time at OHIO.
The Libraries’ seventh annual Homecoming display featured 19 tables full of student publications, photos, handbooks and other artifacts from the University’s more than 200-year-long history.
Bill Kimok, university archivist and records manager, said the display gives alumni the opportunity to both learn more about the history of the University and to share that history with others.
“Perhaps, 20 or 30 or 40 years later, they are seeing the materials and the history that the materials represent for the first time from another perspective,” he said. “Many of them also see it as a way and opportunity of explaining to their own families and friends what they experienced when they were students at OHIO.”
Visitors were also able to search online in the digital archives to find materials about themselves or someone they knew.
